Alms Bowls (2 Items), Long-necked Vase

These black pottery alms bowls had an incurved mouth, a rounded abdomen and a rounded bottom.  Being entirely black, they had smooth and delicate surface, and had no decorative pattern. Alms bowls were used by monks and were rarely seen in tombs of this period.

Long-necked vases were water containers and were used as the Avalokiteshvara vase (vase containing purifying water) in Buddhist rituals. This unglazed vase was made with fine clay in bluish-grey color.
