Palace Memorial (Zouzhe) from the Liangguang Viceroy Fuk'anggan

In the Qing dynasty, some officials were allowed to send confidential memorials, called zouzhe, directly to the emperor himself. Those sent back to the officials after imperial endorsement were termed zhupi zouzhe or “palace memorial with imperial rescripts in vermilion ink.” In the reign of Emperor Yongzheng, officials were required to send the zhupi zouzhe back to the palace.
