Mask of the Monk

During the “repaying a Nuo vow” ceremony, the ritual specialist wears different masks that represent distinct identities at various stages.
Wearing prayer beads and holding a ritual broom, the Monk, also known as the “Laughing Monk,” performs the “lame camel” dance while reciting ritual verses to protect against calamity.
