Stem plate was popular in the Southern dynasties, which usually came with tea bowls or cups on it. This design of stem cup standing on a stem plate was uncommon and could be an imitation of golden and silver vessels. This was one of the grave goods found in Tomb YM243, and some of these grave goods had a comparatively rough surface and did not have a glass-like texture, possibly a result of insufficient firing temperature.
