Calendar

The monthly calendar on display here is incomplete with wooden slips missing from both the beginning and end of the text. Michael Loewe was the first to point out that these three slips have the sexagenary or stem-and-branch cycle written on them and were likely a single tablet. Based on his conclusions, the slips have already been rejoined. From “the tenth day (day of Xinsi),” it can be inferred that the “day of Jiaxu” is the third day and the later “day of Yiwei” should be the twenty-fourth, as well as the first day of the month being the “day of Renshen.”
