Fire-Starting Implements
The most important responsibility of beacon stations in the frontier regions was making warning signals, therefore fire was used frequently and had to be started immediately in emergency. The most common method of fire starting in the frontier was friction, namely using fire-boards, fire-drills, and ru (tinder). Some of fired-boards still have burn marks from use.
