Veritable Records The Veritable Records were detailed court chronicles for each reign, compiled during the succeeding reign, a precedent which was established in the T'ang dynasty. In the Ch'ing dynasty, the Veritable Records Office was established. The Veritable Records of the Emperor T'ai-tsu were first compiled in 1636, recopied during the reign of Shun-chih, and revised in the K'ang-hsi, late Yung-chêng, and the early Ch'ien-lung reigns. The collection at the Institute consists of drafts of revisions made during the K'ang-hsi reign.
