Routine Memorial for Reporting the Case of Fraud at the Examination Grounds and Administered Punishments
A case of fraud was discovered in 1790 concerning the bribery of transcribers, examination officials working “behind the curtain,” and other personnel. The forms of malpractice, including tampering with examination papers, communicating with officials “in front of the curtain,” and impersonation, were all linked; and the examiners who were deemed to be negligent in their duties suffered different degrees of punishment.
