Jingwei Piwen Certificate to Censor Chen Fei in the Shuntian Prefecture
In the early Qing dynasty, Regional Inspectors, Board of Revenue officials and Board of Works officials dispatched outside of the capital were required to bring documentations including chishu (command edict), jingwei piwen, and kanhe (travel certificate) upon holding office. These documentations were to be returned once demitted. The piece exhibited here was a jingwei piwen written in Manchurian, documenting the posting of Chen Fei to the Shuntian Prefecture in 1652.
