In order to entice Koxinga to surrender, the Ch’ing court offered him (along with his father and uncles) a position of nobility. Furthermore, as a display of their sincerity, the Ch’ing court ordered that Ch’ing forces cease their threat to Koxinga and fallback on the date the ennobling Command Edict was to be deliverecd.
