Command Edict for the Capture of Koxinga
In 1659, General-in-chief Lo T’o and Wu San-kuei launched an offensive in the Yunnan-Kweichow region, forcing the Yungli Emperor of the Ming Dynasty to flee to Burma. Koxinga took this opportunity to attack regions along the southern Yangtze River and proceeded to occupy Nan-ching. However, Koxinga’s forces were defeated in Ch’ung-ming and his troops fled. This edict, calling for the surrender of Koxinga’s forces, was issued on November 25th, 1659 and states that any who capture or kill Koxinga will be considerably rewarded.
