The Genre Paintings of Taiwan’s Aboriginal Peoples:Atop the Watchtower

Here, the Peipon erect a lofty, open-aired watchtower of bamboo. With the coming of the rice harvest, unmarried young men are sent day and night to guard the crops. The rice seems newly transplanted, and the explanatory note suggests only a "safeguard of the rice paddies", no mention being given to an imminent harvest.
