Register of the Requisition of the Clothing Received by Soldiers of the Changyi State
These slips on display here are the register of the clothing and personal belongings of as well as their requisition by so-called “land reclamation soldiers” of the Changyi State. Land reclamation soldiers here refers to soldiers and even farmers who were charged with reclaiming uncultivated land in the frontier regions. Michael Loewe believes that the same individual penned the names, native places, and ages of the soldiers found on these slips. Although it is not certain if the same person wrote the marking of clothing receiving at the bottom of the slips, with Loewe’s conclusions as well as the formatting, contents and hand writing of the text, it is exceedingly likely these slips are part of the same volume.
