Wooden Slips for Writing Practice
Numerous wooden slips used for writing practice, namely repeatedly writing a single character or a sentence on a discarded slip, have been unearthed from Edsen-gol. One can see that the backs of slip nos. 24.1, 32.12, and 26.9 on display here have been used in this manner, whereas nos. 101.2 and 227.98 are so-called “erasing inscriptions” which refer to slips that have been shaved—essentially erasing the previous text—to be reused.
