Wooden Gangmao: Amulets
Gangmao are Han dynasty amulets that were worn on the person. The majority of amulets were made of precious materials, such as jade and ivory. But according to ancient documents, some were mahogany. IHP researcher Lao Kan discovered wooden amulets at Edsen-gol. The three wooden amulets were excavated from two different locations, suggesting wooden ones were commonly used in the Han.
