Sealing strips which included a groove that could be sealed with clay and stamped were frequently used in the delivery of documents, letters, and belongings to ensure confidentiality. “Jianzhao er nian li fengfu mingji” (Register of officials whose salaries were paid from tax money in the second year of the Jianzhao era) is written on the sealing strip on display here.
