Alms Bowl, Long-necked Vase

The pottery of this round-belly alms bowl was black and had a smooth texture with sheen.

Long-necked vases were water containers and used as the Avalokiteshvara vase (vase containing purifying water) in Buddhist rituals. This piece was made with white clay and glazed in a green tone from its top to the one-third of the abdomen.
