Survey of Folk Customs of Sichuan and Kham, Li Guang-ming and Wang Yuan-hui, authors.
This work brings together survey records of the IHP’s earliest conducted fieldwork on ethnic minorities. Although Li Guang-ming and Wang Yuan-hui lacked formal training in ethnology and anthropology, this absence of academic background allowed their investigations to capture details not readily found in more conventional anthropological studies. Following the survey, Li Guang-ming left the IHP to pursue a career in the military and political spheres. In 1946, shortly after being appointed head commissioner of Jinghua County, he was assassinated.
