Embroidered Red Satin Sling of the Hua (Colorful) Miao Subgroup
Embroidered with intricate motifs, this type of sling is used by the Miao in their daily lives for various purposes. Early fieldwork photographs from the IHP show that slings were widely employed to carry infants and young children. In Miao society, men have actively participated in carrying and caring for children, indicating that childcare was a shared responsibility and not confined to women alone.
