Hu Pot with Bow-string Line Decor
This horizontally lined vessel is for drawing water. The mouth extends slightly outward and its neck is straight. Two vertical lugs are on each side, and the vessel bulges as it nears its round base. Simple bow-string lines circle and ornament the vessel. Ropes can be threaded through the two lugs, indicating it could have been suspended or lowered to draw water from a well or river. Due to its oval shape, after being placed in water, the wider, bulging portion is able to float, thus allowing for water to slowly flow into the vessel.
