To celebrate International Museum Day on May 18, the MIHP is organizing the “Love Is in the Air” event for May 17 (Sun.) and May 20 (Wed.) alongside ongoing exhibitions. Activities include “Falling in Love with Casting: Ancient Seal Casting Workshop,” “Falling in Love with the Standing Owl: Guided Tour and Recreating National Treasure Motifs,” and “Falling in Love with the MIHP: Introductory Video Quiz.” All are invited to experience the intoxicating air of our housed artifacts, and fall in love with MIHP together.
No matter how many times you visit the MIHP, once you lay eyes on the artifacts, it’s like falling in love for the first time again!

Cast an ancient seal; preserve a moment.
From clay molds and casting to demolding, Shang dynasty craftspersons created mesmerizing bronzes. Now, using tin, specially crafted clay slabs, and silicone molds, we invite you to cast your very own ancient metal seal. More than a DIY experience, it’s a date with a millennia-old craft.

The Marble Sculpture of a Standing Owl, categorized as a “national treasure,” never fails to quicken the pulse as the visitor is enticed for a second look. Where does one begin to describe its charm? Starting with the story of the artifact’s discovery, this activity guides visitors through the form and motifs of the Standing Owl, unearthing the little surprises hidden in the details. After the tour, join us for a creative workshop inspired by the artifact’s motifs, where we will draw our own “parallel universe” versions of the Standing Owl!
