Solidified Copper from the Bottom of a Melting Furnace
This disc-shaped artifact is pure copper. The bottom is smooth and spherical, whereas the surface is concave with many adhered copper granules, probably the result of the solidification of molten copper remaining at the bottom of a melting furnace. It was later used as a pillar pivot at Site A11 of the Hsiao-t’un temple-palace complex.
