Mold Sections and Cores
When casting flat objects, a mold assemblage with one or two sides would be sufficient, while for three-dimensional objects, three or more side molds are required. In casting vessels or other hollow objects, the outer portions of the assemblage are referred to as outer “mold sections,” whereas the inner portions that create the hollow are “cores.”
