Yinxu Period I Chüeh Vessel Models
The bodies of chüeh vessels at Yinxu largely follow the form in the Erligang period. The bottom, however, are spherical; the casting technique more complex than the practice of using rectangular clay blocks to produce the leg mold sections in the Erligang period. One chüeh spherical bottom model (R017471) and a chüeh leg model (R16789) are discovered at Hsiao-t’un, which provide clues in our experiments to replicate the chüeh mold sections from spherical bottom to three legs.
