Weapons from Hsiao-t’un

Among the clay molds discovered at Hsiao-t’un, there are molds for weapons, horse and chariot fittings, and tools. Their patterns are relatively simple and they are made from coarse clay mixed with sand fired at low temperature. Artifact R016801, the mold for the “nei” part of a bronze dagger, is flat and curved with a dragon decor. R016819 and R016829 are both molds for arrowheads with a branching structure which can be cast multiple arrowheads at the same time.
