After several attempts by the Qing court to induce Koxinga to capitulate by conferring titles upon him and offering him official positions, Koxinga still refused to surrender to the Qing court and left his forehead unshaved. In August of 1654, the Qing court again issued another command edict, advising Koxinga to make the wise decision to surrender. In case of unwillingness to surrender, Koxinga should state this clearly.
