This book was privately printed by Chen Qi and Chen Si in the Southern Song capital of Lin’an. A fine high-quality print, it is known as a “Shupeng edition.” Due to restrictions on contemporary anthologies of prose and poetry printed by bookshops in the Song dynasty, printers often had to turn to publishing anthologies of poetry and prose from previous ages. As a result, a large number of works by scholars and officials of the Five Dynasties and before were compiled and published in the Song dynasty.
