Ting Cauldrons with Single Handle
These single-handled small cauldrons are vessels for drawing and pouring hot water, which can also be used to add heat. Along with a Ting Cauldron (warming cauldron), these smaller cauldrons have been unearthed from a sacrificial pit. The necks are narrow and the bodies are in the shape of a jar. A single handle is positioned on the side of each cauldron. Their capacities are 2,860 ml and 2,420 ml, respectively. This kind of single-handled small cauldron is remarkably rare as researchers have only discovered two others: one from sacrificial pit M1380 Hsi-pei-kang and another from sacrificial pit M229 located in the northern section of Wuguancun, all of which are Shang vessels for heating water.
