Fragments of Post Registers

Postal delivery in the Han dynasty employed a form of segmented operations, and the goods were to be delivered within a set limited time. Each area was responsible for the detail recording of the types of documents, quantity, the dates of receipt and delivery as well as those handling the shipment. The hand writing of these two wooden slips is markedly similar, and their dates are successive, namely the twenty-third and twenty-fourth days of the sixth month, respectively. Based on the hand writing, the formatting, the contents and dates, these slips are indicated to belong to the same volume.
