Ink Lines on the Side Faces of Slips
Scholars have recently found that a number of the Han slips from Edsen-gol have ink lines on their side faces, which act as a reference for aligning and demarcating columns or the starting and ending points for writing. This could allow the text to be well organized and identified. In addition, ink lines and other features, notably similar lines in style and function found on the front faces of some slips, have greatly assisted restoration efforts.
