Report on Granting Officer Zheng She Leave of Absence Due to the Death of His Father, 42 B.C.
In the second year of the Yongguang era (42 B.C.), an officer of the Jiaqu Company reported to his superiors the matter of granting Officer Zheng She a leave of absence on grounds of the death of his father. This bound volume, including its original hemp cords, was discovered largely intact. The cords move from right to left across the three slips, dividing them into three equal parts, and are knotted off at the end. But remarkably, there is another cord tied to the first slip.
