The concept for the design of this piece was taken from a pair of marble tiger figurines contained in the collection of the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica. (Excavated from Royal Tomb 1500, Hsi-pei-kang, Anyang, Honan Province. Shang Dynasty, 1766-1123 BCE.)
