The Genre Paintings of Taiwan’s Aboriginal Peoples: Hunting Deer

The Peipon people's most important prey were the deer of Taiwan. With the arival of the Chinese and Dutch, however, the deer became products for international trade and excess hunting reduced their numbers. Here, we see a hunt described as "emergence from the grass". The hairstyles and sashes of the hunters suggest their ages to be between ten and twenty.
