The Genre Paintings of Taiwan’s Aboriginal Peoples:Raising the Roof

Some buildings of the Peipon were made of stamped earth and paved with pieces of stone. Other buildings built on wooden stilts are reminiscent of the pile dwelling of Southern China. The aborigines used laced bamboo for their walls and woven grass for their rooftops. As can be seen in this picture, the porch in front of the house is accessible by stairs. There are usually two to four entrances to each home.
