The Genre Paintings of Taiwan’s Aboriginal Peoples: Welcoming the Bride
Plains indigenous society was matriarchal. Young men and women chose their own marriage partners, and after the wedding, the bride and groom, hand in hand, returned to the woman’s home. For this reason, marriage was termed “khansiu” (lead by the hand).
