The Binding of Wooden Slips (replica)
Recently unearthed volumes of slips largely indicate that the binding method: a single hemp cord was first folded, then woven over and under each slip one by one, moving right to left across the volume and finally knotted, as well as the second cord. The item on display here is a replica bound volume of blank wooden slips with hemp cords, offering a glimpse into the production of ancient Han texts. The replica, including the slips (23 cm) and hemp cords, conforms to Han binding practices.
