Imperial Edict Calling for the Capitulation of Koxinga’s Followers

Koxinga had occupied coastal regions of China for years, and in order to persuade his followers to surrender, the Ch’ing court announced that any of Koxinga’s followers who were willing to surrender would be offered official positions, while the person who captured or killed Koxinga would be rewarded with a rank of hereditary nobility. As for those, like Ma Hsin or Li Pi, who had betrayed the Ch’ing court in the past, the charges against them would be dropped and they would be enfeoffed if they were able to bring Koxinga in.
